Programme Chercheurs-boursiers cliniciens - Junior 2

Concours 2019-2020

My program aims at improving Women's Health by carrying out important research on pregnancy and breast cancer.

First, I will target premature births. My program seeks to reduce prematurity by identifying biomarkers to better predict at risk women as well as to complete a large multicenter clinical trial evaluating a treatment for the prevention of prematurity. Second, I will target cesarean deliveries. My program aims at explaining this increase and standardizing care to ensure all women obtain optimal care and not undergo unnecessary cesarean deliveries. Third, I will target rare diseases in pregnancy. Over the last 10 years, I have published extensively on rare diseases of pregnancy and have developed unique expertise of large population databases to address these questions. I will continue to use this expertise to provide clinicians with important information of many rare diseases in pregnancies. Fourth, I will target breast cancer. Breast cancer was diagnosed in over 26,000 Canadian women in 2017. I have recently shown that hormone replacement therapies do not all result in the same risk of breast cancer and will thus further study this in context of different contraceptives and fertility treatments.

Over the last 10 years, I have obtained over $2 Million as principle investigator for my studies and over $30 Million as a collaborator. I have published over 120 papers in peer reviewed journals and have supervised over 80 trainees in research projects attesting to my capacity to run a successful research program. I am confident that with my proven track record, my expertise as a practicing obstetrician gynecologist bringing exciting and focused research ideas to life, I will continue to obtain funding and excel on my research commitment of carrying out important clinical research while continuing to educate and inspire trainees in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women's Health.
