This study aims to better prevent avoidable incidents that lead elderly people with cognitive impairments to consult at urgent care centres by offering them upstream care and services that are adapted to their needs. The original aspect of this study is that it focuses on an elderly and vulnerable population, frequently admitted to urgent care because of relatively unknown circumstances and characteristics surrounding the incidents that lead them to consult urgent care.

This knowledge is necessary to adequately prevent these incidents and avoid consultations in urgent care. This study is within the scope of the government's priority to improve interventions on upstream services in urgent care by a better knowledge of the factors linked to this clientele's profile.
