Chronic diseases of the lung often lead to an alteration of its internal structure, which makes respiration difficult and sometimes impossible.

The mechanisms altering the structure of the lung are misunderstood and current medical approaches aimed at reversing them are often inefficient.

This research program is dedicated to study agents (called CD200 and sphingolipids) for which we have discovered new abilities to influence important mechanisms that alter the architecture of the lung. This program will contribute to a better understanding of the mechanisms that cause alterations of the lung, and at the same time, we hope that it will help identify new ways of slowing down, or even reverse the architectural alterations of the lung.

This would contribute to ameliorate the respiration of persons that suffer from chronic lung diseases like asthma and lung cancer.
