The Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS) Ethics and Scientific Integrity Committee is a standing sub-committee of the FRQS Board of Directors. Its role is to make proposals to the Board of Directors for standards and principles relating to ethics and scientific integrity with which FRQS-funded researchers and groups of researchers are required to comply. It also identifies emerging ethical issues in research and, where required, considers appropriate approaches. In addition, the committee carries out any other mandate relating to ethics and scientific integrity entrusted to it by the Board of Directors, albeit without contributing to the evaluation of funding applications or any other type of research project assessment or review.
The 2012-2015 work plan of the FRQS Ethics and Scientific Integrity Committee addresses the following themes: research ethics training and education, the regulation of research ethics, the responsible conduct of research and research in ethics. During the same period, the FRQS Ethics and Scientific Integrity Committee will monitor ethical issues tied to recent developments in health research, such as issues raised by multicentre studies or biobank research.
