With the New Year upon us, I am very pleased to present the perspectives and priorities for action of the scientific directorate of the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS), which seek to preserve the balance between the consolidation of our achievements and our openness to new opportunities.
In terms of support for research infrastructures, we are currently wrapping up the initiative to upgrade the thematic networks program and plan to launch a new edition this summer. With our partners at the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, we will continue to stimulate the development of our hospital-based research centres and institutes within the context of the ongoing transformation of the health and social services network.
We will also continue to demonstrate our commitment to the development of new generations of researchers in Québec through funding programs to support student training and researcher career advancement.
In addition, we are focused on strengthening our current collaborations with partners and initiating new links with key stakeholders in Québec's healthcare system with the overarching goal of promoting research in order to generate scientific knowledge and social and economic benefits.
Finally, the FRQS will continue to be involved in national and international partnerships. Among these initiatives is the Fonds' participation in the National Alliance of Provincial Health Research Organizations (NAPHRO), which has led us to create ties with colleagues in other provinces with a view to coordinate our communications, align our strategies and better focus interprovincial and national efforts to secure funding for health research.
I hope that these many opportunities for exchanges will spell creativity, boldness, enthusiasm and optimism in 2016!
