I am delighted to communicate the progress of several of the initiatives on which the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé is actively working.
First, we are very pleased to share the results of our competitions, which are consistent with last year's since the success rates remain the same.
In addition, under the Research infrastructure support stream, we revamped the thematic networks program and will launch the next competition this July. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the Fonds Santé's scientific governance team, scientific advisor Daniel Ménard and the members of the ad hoc committee, which included representatives from our board of directors and the scientific community. I would also like to thank the directors of the current networks for their critical and constructive contributions to the process.
Moreover, we are continuing our efforts to promote and develop our hospital centres and institutes in the context of the transformation of the health and social services network.
I would also like to note that research and innovation are now overseen by the same provincial department: the Ministère de l'Économie, de la Science et de l'Innovation under the responsibility of Minister Anglade. The merger holds its share of promising opportunities and synergies for Québec.
Finally, there have been many very positive signs from the federal government in recent months, including a budget that highlights the value of science and innovation. As we strengthen our ties with our colleagues in other provinces (through NAPHRO) and the federal offices, we will better ensure the convergence of interprovincial and national efforts to fund health research.
I wish you all a creative and stimulating spring!
