The program rules, eligibility requirements and forms for Part 1 — Initiation to research and Part 2 — New Research Project are available on the partner’s website.
The Common General Rules (CGR) apply to all programming of the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ). However, several special conditions apply to this program carried out in partnership. These conditions prevail over the RGC.
In the event of a discrepancy between the English and French versions of this program, the French version prevails.
1. BACKGROUND
Esplanade Québec, an organization that provides support for startups with a social or environmental impact, has joined forces with the Fonds de recherche du Québec to support entrepreneurial and scientific innovation in Québec. Their new grant program, Combining Science and Impact Entrepreneurship, will allow 30 Québec startups to initiate or pursue new collaborative projects with Québec researchers.
This initiative is part of the FRQ’s research programming related to major societal challenges, including entrepreneurship and creativity. The FRQ are interested, from an intersectoral perspective, in the conditions and factors that foster Québec ingenuity and inventiveness on a human, organizational and societal level, in order to promote entrepreneurial culture in Québec, encourage the new generation of innovative and scientific entrepreneurship, and support the transfer of innovations resulting from research to the various spheres of society.
2. OBJECTIVES
The program’s objective is to encourage collaboration between startups and the research community in order to increase mutual benefits. More specifically, the program aims to:
· make Quebec research expertise accessible and promote the scientific approach in the entrepreneurial environment in Québec;
· strengthen the capacity for innovation and increase the societal impact of research in Québec;
· create an innovative collaborative model between research and entrepreneurship;
· increase the social and environmental impact of startups in Québec.

Call for applications: October 13 to November 25, 2022
Information session (in French): November 1, 2022 (Register)
Announcement of pre-selected startups: January 2023
Announcement of winning startups: February 2023
