Like many countries, Canada, and several Canadian provinces including Québec, has made Alzheimer's disease prevention, intervention and research a high priority for health. In view of the excellent research conducted in Québec on Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, and the importance of preparing Québec's research community to be competitive in Alzheimer and related disorders research at the national and international levels, the FRQS is launching a second and last competition for a structuring and mobilizing program related to this thematic.

In partnership with Pfizer Canada, this program will be dedicated to high-risk, high potential projects enabling investigators to explore new research directions or new models, tools or techniques that could potentially yield significant impacts on the knowledge and understanding of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. The long-term goal of increasing the knowledge and understanding of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders is to improve the health of Quebecers.

For conciseness, the term Alzheimer's disease will be used to refer to Alzheimer's disease and related disorders in the following sections of the program.
