Objectives

This program funds short-term scientific missions with a view to fostering sustained cooperation between independent Chinese and Québec investigators.

1.

ELIGIBILITY – QUÉBEC SCIENTISTS

Eligible applicants

Competition is open to independent investigators working in health research who are :

  • Canadian citizens or permanent residents (as defined in section 2.1 of the Common General Rules) and domiciled in Québec

  • involved, to the satisfaction of the FRQS and NSFC science authorities, in a cooperative research project with one or more Chinese scientists in an NSFC-funded Life Sciences laboratory.

Restriction

Candidates who have already benefited twice from the FRQS financial support may not submit another application under this program

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

The e-mail transmission date will attest the date on which the documents were submitted.

Any missing document or document that is not in conformity with the program rules and forms
may result in the ineligibility of the funding application.

Applicants

  • PDF file of Canadian Common CV, Funding CV version, for the FRQS (updated since June 2014)

The form must include the research project title in French.

The Chinese scientists must apply to the NSFC.

 


3.

TRAINING DURATION

Duration

The duration of the stays is from 1 to 3 months.

The mission should take place between July 1st 2017 and June 30th 2018

 


4.

AMOUNT OF GRANT

Amount

The grant covers for researchers and the members of their team:

  • round-trip transportation (up to C$2,000)

  • daily living allowance

The NSFC pays Québec scientists an allowance as per local standards (700 RMB per diem) and the round-trip transportation of the Chinese scientists.

The FRQS pays Chinese scientists an allowance of CAN$100 per diem and the round-trip transportation of the Québec scientists.

Indirect costs of research

This program does not benefit from the amount paid out by FRQS to cover indirect costs of research of the institutions.

6.

KNOWLEDGE MOBILIZATION

The FRQS encourages awardees to conduct and participate in knowledge mobilization activities (transfer, sharing, development, enhancement and dissemination) with practice settings and the general public, where such activities are relevant.
