The ERA-NET NEURON network, in which the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS) is a partner, is launching a joint transnational call for proposals to support research in the field of neuroscience.
Submitted projects must propose innovative research programs, highlighting the added value gainde from the collaboration of multinational scientific teams.Research proposals should cover at least one of the following areas:
a) Fundamental research on the pathogenesis and/or aetiology of synaptopathies. This may include the development of innovative or shared resources and new technologies for prevention, diagnosis or therapy of disease.
b) Clinical research, including the exploitation of existing clinical data sets, to develop new strategies for prevention, diagnosis, and therapy for diseases in which synaptic dysfunction plays a key role.
Excluded from this call are research projects focused on:
1) Peripheral nervous system diseases
2) Purely basic research projects focused on synaptic function without a clear objective of addressIng the synaptic dysfunction in the context of neurological and mental disorders
3) Primarily neurodegenerative disorders
Only transnational projects will be funded. Each consortium should consist of a minimum of three and a maximum of five research teams from at least three different countries participating in this call. The inclusion of poorly represented countries in the consortium such as Latvia, Romania, Slovakia and Turkey increases the maximum number of partners to 6. A maximum of 2 partners per country is accepted. The FRQS will exclusively fund Quebec partners for selected projects.
